Life is different for me

because I give a damn

because my metaphorical heart

is an eye that wants to take everything in

because I wade up to my knees before

I fully submerge

because sunlight is always gold

because there’s always wind

because when I hear the rain slam against my house at midnight

I wear a white t-shirt and walk under the stormĀ

because green is life

and it’s my favorite color

Thunder sings in

its tremulous language. Rain pours

down like oh-so-many tears.

If only

it would crystallize

like I wish my thoughts would.

Observation is

more of a ceaseless,

thankless occupation

whose rewards are never seen

by the observer- the one who records.

Blue-gray clouds never scrutinize.

Not the way

the observer does.

Were the Stars my Eyes,

I could truly see-

not just worldly Beauty-

but- vast Eternity.

Falter Not, Fail Not

Falter not, my eyes,

when I have your Face to see-

fail not, my Words,

to form an Apology.

One day, I went out,

and the World Struck my Eye-

the Hills- the Grass- pleaded-

and I could only comply

by venturing forth

into the Warm air-

this solace, like Eternity,

was not simple- but- Fair.

Because our two lives

are of different orbits.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say

I wanted to see you again.

Sometimes concealing the truth

is as bad as lying.

But if I could be anywhere,

I’d be in London,

or Paris. Alone.

I’ll have to pay off student loans

before I can afford a plane ticket

to Europe. I don’t think I’d say

goodbye to you before I’d leave.

Maybe I’d leave you my orange sweatshirt,

just because you won’t be able to wear it.

Maybe I’d leave you with the book

I made out of every poem

I’ve written about you.

Maybe I’d try to meet you beforehand,

and leave you with a word spoken out loud,

because you may not miss the sound of my voice,

or you may not remember it- I don’t

remember yours. And that scares me.

So I’ll leave you with a word,

if you’ll just speak my name.

Sympathy of Nature

is such a far fetched thing.

We think we see it

in Sunlight,

but this is merely a Consequence

of Revolutions-

this Spring.
