So I survived my first year away at college. *deep sigh of relief*

I know its kind of a lame excuse, but I was busy a lot of the times, or just focused on other things, that’s why I haven’t posted on this blog in about six months.

Now that it’s summer I plan to fix that.

You’ll be seeing some new poetry soon, although I can’t promise I’ll be able to churn it out daily. But stayed tuned anyway!

I haven’t been posting a lot these past few months because I have moved to a University, and have been busy not only settling but also with schoolwork and extracurricular activities.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me in spite of the lack of content being regularly posted.

So, psychology has become a rather recent interest of mine. I mean- I guess I’ve been intrigued with abnormal psychology and personality psychology for some time now, but I didn’t really research it until I took Psychology 101 this past year (which was definitely one of my favorite classes, losing only to Advanced Creative Writing).

About a month ago I became interested in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test. Some people think it’s bull. Some people stand by it. I think it’s interesting and, yes, I do stand by my results.

Though I haven’t taken the official test, I’ve taken multiple (okay, 3) online tests and each one has produced the same result: INFJ. Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging.

Researching deeper and deeper into the meaning of this four letter combination offered surprising insight into how I have felt about myself, and even put some aspects of my personality into sentences that perfectly described them in a way I could not.

Now, I realize- and the makers and proliferaters of the test recognize- that no one fits his or her type description exactly, but that doesn’t stop the test from being intriguing, or certain aspects of one’s results from ringing true.

Here is a link to the test I recommend: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

If you like, you may leave your results as comments. I’d like to know if there are any other INFJs out there, considering we are The Rarest type.

I’ve been listening to this song by Paul Simon (yes, of Simon & Garfunkel) for the past few days.

Maybe it’s the drums, maybe it’s the melody or the lyrics, but it just gets stuck in my head so easily. It sort of sounds like an anthem, as well. An anthem about childhood.

“Why deny the obvious child” that’s inside us all?

The Trees seem to beckon

as the Sun sinks low,

but the Heat keeps me apart

from the World I’d like to know.

Clouds, obscure! Sun, blink!-

for a short Moment-

so I may venture,

and- no more- lament.

Have you ever seen a doorknob split in two?

How does petrichor make you feel?

Do you know what petrichor is?

How many people in the world sneeze at this exact moment?

Would there be color without light?

What do birds think about?

How many ants can lift a cherry?

What’s a child’s first reaction to snow?

How many people do you know with heterochromia?

What were your great-great-great-grandfather’s last words?

What were your grandmother’s first words?

How many purses are there in Japan?

What do bees think of humans?

Who was your first hug?

Whoa! 100 followers!

I don’t want to come off as insincere, but all I can do is assure you who are reading this that I am truly grateful and smiling like a fool even though the Internet will not allow for such emotions to be displayed (at least not without pictorial evidence).

But I do want to thank all of you for clicking that little “follow” button and subscribing to my blog to read the weird, crazy stuff I somehow think up thanks to the electric impulses arcing across my nervous system.

I know that the future holds much more poetry for you to read, and if you’d like, I could post some prose, and more songs too. I’ll also continue experimenting with form and subject in my poetry, so look forward to that (I know I am…also kind of anxious about it, haha)!

Again, thank you all, sincerely.

I wish you all well!

Rise

out of a blue sea

into scarlet light,

descend the marble steps

to a pool as clear as glass.

Sweep away remaining sleep,

find the jungle of fruits-

a bright feast.

Open mouth in a wide “O”,

loose a gust,

focus on the wash of yellow

shining through.

Flutters and twips float

in- vague- into the

temporary cage.

O but if you could see how lonely I am,

for I am young and crave that sickening, sweet,

drink known as pity. And I am lonely;

I house a heart that is heavy with burdens

that many men and women have held before-

but they are new to me, and I state,

once again, I am young, and with youth

comes yet another burden: inexperience.
